Mia Farrow opens up about celebrities working with Woody Allen’s ex after scandal

Mia Farrow said she bears no ill will towards actors who decided to work with Woody Allen, her estranged former partner of 11 years, and continued to push back against her reputation as a “vengeful woman scorned.”

“If an actor decides to work with him, I completely understand,” the 79-year-old actress said on CBS Sunday Morning.

“I’m not one of those people that say, ‘Oh, you shouldn’t do that.’

When host Seth Dorn asked if she was able to separate her personal trials from her acting experience working with the 88-year-old director on 13 films, Mia (real name Maria) replied, “Oh, yes.”

When Farrow discovered in January 1992 that Woody (real name Alan Koenigsberg) had been secretly having an affair with her 21-year-old adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn, she understandably felt betrayed and, seven months later, publicly accused Woody of sexually abusing her 7-year-old adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow.

Mia Farrow has continued to push back against her reputation as a “vengeful woman scorned” by making it clear that she bears no ill will towards actors who choose to work with Woody Allen, her estranged former partner of 11 years.

A week later, Allen (who was never charged or prosecuted) filed a lawsuit against the Rosemary’s Baby alum, seeking full custody of her son, Satchel (now Ronan), and adopted children, Dylan and Moses.

In a 33-page ruling handed down in 1993, Judge Elliot Wilk denied the controversial director’s motion to win custody of all three children, describing his conduct towards Dylan as “grossly inappropriate” and also dismissing allegations of sexual abuse.

In 1997, Woody married Soon-Yi and adopted two daughters, Bechet Allen, 25, and Manji Thio Allen, 24.

Dylan, 39, has denied the allegations but his brother Moses, 46, publicly denied he had ever abused her and claimed Mia had abused him in a 2018 WordPress post.

Allen’s enthusiastic supporters include Diane Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Scarlett Johansson, Cherry Jones, Bill Maher, Jude Law, Javier Bardem, Cate Blanchett, Gina Gershon, Jim Belushi, Juno Temple, Michael Caine and Jeff Goldblum.

Kate Winslet, Drew Barrymore, Evan Rachel Wood, David Krumholtz, Greta Gerwig, Mira Sorvino, Rachel Brosnahan, Jeff Daniels, Peter Sarsgaard, Natalie Portman, Colin Firth, Hayley Atwell, Freida Pinto, Chloe Sevigny and Marion Cotillard have all said they would never work with the four-time Oscar winner again.

Woody’s final US film, A Rainy Day in New York, coincided with the #MeToo movement in 2019, and its stars Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Hall and Griffin Newman donated their salaries to support sexual assault support groups.

Last year, Allen decamped to France to direct his 50th feature, “Coup de Chance,” which, despite moderate reviews, grossed just $7.4 million at the worldwide box office.

“The fact that we’re working right now, that to me is a success!” the Golden Globe winner enthused.

“I’m an old guy. I’m good at doing nothing. It’s a natural talent. I enjoy being alone forever. I have good friends. I have no complaints.”
